We have tripled in our business, so our numbers are through the roof right now. I am no longer a technician in the business, I don't work in the business, I completely just work on the business.

We've seen some really good results. We've grown upwards of 70%. I really believe that a lot of the things I've learned in the coaching program have helped us achieve those results.
Jason Rorie

In one year of Glenn's coaching, I was up 50% growth. I don't know how I could be where I am today had I not been in the coaching. That's why I stayed.

"Glenn, Thank you so much for all you taught us yesterday. After talking with the team today, we are all in agreement it was one of the best PD management trainings we’ve been through.
I was nervous, because sometimes these management trainings can be a little cheesy, but you really did provide us with quality information that we will be using! I will definitely be recommending you to my HR friends."

Frequently Asked Questions
A family business coach meets regularly with family business owners to help navigate both business growth and family dynamics. We help you tackle unique challenges like succession planning, family conflicts, and maintaining harmony while growing the business. Our focus is on strengthening both your company and your family relationships.
A family business coach understands both business principles and family dynamics, while a business consultant focuses solely on operations. We help you balance family relationships, tradition, and business growth to create strategies that benefit both your company and your family.
Ask about their experience working with family businesses and how they handle family conflicts in business settings. It's also good to ask for examples of successful family transitions they've guided and their approach to balancing family traditions with business growth.
Most families in our Family Business Acceleration Program work with us for 9-12 months initially, depending on their goals and challenges. Some families choose ongoing coaching to help navigate different generations and transitions, but there's no long-term obligation.
You control what you share with us, and everything remains completely confidential. Many families find it helpful to have a neutral party help them work through sensitive issues, but you're never required to share more than you're comfortable with.
Consider working with a coach if you're planning leadership transition between generations or if family conflicts are affecting business decisions. Many families also seek coaching when they want to grow while preserving family values or need help professionalizing their operations.
Feel free to schedule a consultation to discuss your family's specific situation and see if coaching would be helpful for you.
Real-Life Coaching Questions From Family Businesses
Coaching has the potential to help all businesses, especially family owned businesses. However, the outcome of coaching hinges on the business owners (i.e. family members) thinking deeply, communicating openly, and making thoughtful, wise decisions. The coach helps owners and family members do just that. As we work with family businesses, we focus heavily on asking and answering the important, and sometimes difficult questions. Then we help the family owners align themselves around meaningful goals and strategies. As we move forward, we help the owners stay focused, maintain alignment, and achieve the desired outcomes they want.
Every company’s needs are different. Therefore, the financial investments can vary greatly. Depending on the time required, monthly strategy and coaching sessions may range between $500 and $1,000 per month. Sometimes companies and families want in-depth engagement from their coach, which might require up to a full day each week for a period of time. This might include serving as a Fractional Integrator or COO, or a deeply engaged Succession Planning Leader who is engaged in broad scale leadership and professional development. The range for these types of services may be $8,000 to $10,000 per month. A half-day of weekly engagement will reduce the cost to the $4,000 to $5,000 range. When we work with family owned businesses, we start by defining a clear scope of work with defined outcomes. Then, we assess the time required and work with each business to design a program that achieves their objectives and works within their budget.
Yes, and honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons families come to us. Communication gets tricky when work and family overlap. Through our Family Owned Business Coaching services, we help you build the skills and habits to talk more openly, listen better, and actually hear each other, without things blowing up. We’re not here to “fix” anyone, just to help everyone feel heard and respected so the business can move forward.
That’s the goal. Growth doesn’t just happen from good marketing or sales—it starts with clear direction, the right people in the right roles, and systems that can scale. It also requires scalable leadership. In other words, owners must be increasing their leadership effectiveness, and the company must be developing leaders throughout the organization. When your family is aligned, your processes and systems become increasingly scalable, and your leadership capacity increases, your business WILL grow. We help you put those pieces in place.
If you’re stuck in the same conversations (or arguments), dealing with tension, or struggling to grow without burning out, it’s definitely worth considering. Working with one of our coaches is like having an outside set of eyes and ears that can see what you might be missing. Families who work with us often say it’s the best investment they’ve made—not just for their business, but for their peace of mind and family unity.
That’s a great question—and it’s something we help with all the time. Non-family team members need clarity, structure, and to feel like they’re on equal footing. We guide families to create healthy boundaries, define roles clearly, and build a workplace culture where everyone, family or not, knows they belong. That’s how you keep great people and grow a strong team.
We’re not a staffing agency, but we definitely help families figure out what kind of people they need—and how to go about finding and keeping them. That includes helping you shape better job descriptions, ask smarter interview questions, and build onboarding processes that actually work. At Family Owned Business Coaching, our coaches focus on helping you attract folks who fit your culture and values. Then we help you define and document your critical processes and systems to create predictable, scalable results.
Yes, and it's one of the most powerful parts of the work we do. Being on the “same page” doesn’t mean everyone has to think the same way—but it does mean everyone understands the vision, their role, and how to move forward together. It’s critical that every family member feels heard and respected. We help you create a shared roadmap so decisions aren’t just made by whoever’s talking the loudest or working the most hours.
Retention starts with clarity, trust, and growth. People stick around when they know what’s expected, feel supported, and see a future for themselves in the company. Our coaches help families build cultures that keep people engaged—not just with perks or bonuses, but with real leadership and care.
Delegation doesn’t mean dumping tasks—it means giving real responsibility with support. We help you identify who’s ready for more, clarify expectations, and build trust so you can let go of some control (we know, easier said than done). Delegating well creates space for growth—for the business and for you personally.
You need strong systems, clear leadership, and a culture that doesn’t rely on one or two people holding everything together. That’s where we come in. We help you build a structure where non-family leadership can thrive and where the business keeps running—even when you’re not in the room.
Start with conversations, not assumptions. We help families create real succession plans, not just a handoff of titles. That means talking openly about readiness, interest, expectations, and responsibilities—then putting a clear roadmap in place. Done well, succession brings families closer together. Done poorly, it can create years of tension. We’re here to help with the first one.
This is a question that we enjoy diving into with families. Every business owner needs to consider how they will exit their business. Some want to sell their business one day, while others want to pass on a family legacy. We educate family members on the various ways they can exit while preserving their legacy and the wealth they have generated. We help families understand the generational differences while holding tightly to enduring family values. Each generational handoff presents unique challenges. Through educating families and facilitating important conversations, we have been able to help them build a legacy while increasing the family wealth.
